It's Christmas Eve. What can I say. I don't know exactly what my plan is for this blog, given the rather broad title. I shall write a bit about what I've done for it and how this year has been.
Well, 2020 has been a year quite like no other. I don't want to labour on the corona virus; after all, this is a blog about Christmas! A time of celebration and joy. The time of Jesus' birth. So we'll leave all the Covid stuff for another blog perhaps.
This year, I've really taken the Christmas spirit to heart, probably because of the whole 'situation'. It's a time when everyone can get together (in spirit) and celebrate. I love fairy lights, warm spiced fruit juice and making Christmas cards, so I've really gone to town with all of it.
Walking through Oxford Street during an evening at Christmas time is truly magical. It's an experience I will never forget. All the stores open, filled with heavenly-scented, luxurious products. So that's the first photo.
- The 7th photo is actually one of a shopping centre in France, taken around three years ago. Beautiful, right?
- The 8th photo is of two Christmas cards I made! I love flicking paint- I think it add's a really cool effect too.
- The 10th photo is of panettone- it's delicious! If you haven't tried it, I strongly recommend.
- The 11th photo was taken last year, and it was when I went out with friends during Christmas time in Covent Garden.
- The 12th photo is of a candle that was gifted to us by our neighbours- I lit it for the first time today and it's burning right beside me! It smells divine.
I also made a vanilla cheesecake today, and I can't wait to feast tomorrow! We are going to have roast beef, roast potatoes and carrots, Yorkshire puddings, delicious gravy with onions, brussel sprouts and peas. My dad's also prepared a beetroot cured salmon which we tried today- it was the first time he made it- it was delicious! Although rather too salty- anyway- we can always learn for next time! And then for dessert we'll have my cheesecake- I hope it tastes good!
Update: It's the 29th December today, and I can say that Christmas day was a success!! We enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner, and the cheesecake was so pleasant !! Also, the salmon tastes lovely with a squeeze of lemon and some fresh dill on a piece of bread.
I watched Home Alone 2 for the first time, and really enjoyed it. I've never watched the first one so I want to one day. In the evening, I also read Psalm 91 from the bible to my parents, as well as Isaiah Chapter 53. We had some delicious mulled juice and creamy goats cheese and Stilton on crackers too.
Update (29.12.20): I really missed the roast parsnips, stuffing and pigs in blankets, which were missing from our Christmas dinner ://
