Love Poems

Writer's picture: Isabelle BarsenbachIsabelle Barsenbach

Some lovey dovey poems I've written over the last couple of months. Enjoy ;))

I love you, December 2023

I love you

I love you like the sun loves the flowers

When she shines on them

Watching as their faces turn towards her

And their delicate petals unfurl

I love you like the rain loves the earth

Blessing the dry dusty ground

With water

Fresh and clean and heavy

So that the crop can push through

I love you like the waves love the shore

Lapping against it

Wave after wave

Pouring their love onto the infinite grains of sand

I love you like the birds love their nest

Carefully collecting each branch, each twig

To build their home

Their place of safety

And of comfort

I love you like the stars love the night sky

Rejoicing in the light that they bring

Leaping and prancing together

Shooting across the inky expanse

Frolicking without a care in the universe

But more than that

I love you like me

Standing here

With my heart completely open to you

Consumed by your love

I want to lie on the ocean sky

I want to lie on the ocean sky

Let the waves caress my every curve

And I want you, darling, to watch me

Watch as I lie very, very still

Or take big strokes, reaching for the skyline

Or frolic about, the water my delight

Then enter,

And we become one

You, me and the water

I am a butterfly

Just hatched from its cocoon

Starting my life with you

I want you to watch me laugh, watch me cry

And I’ll do the same for you, my dear

Watch me hurt, in fury, my every downfall

And laugh with me through every moment filled with joy

We mould each other, you and I

Melt like wax and drip like honey

Soft and wet and warm

I am your lover, I am your life

I am you

Shooting star, December 2023

I won’t disillusion myself

And think

We were beautiful stars in the inky sky

Dancing round the universe

Every move a brushstroke of gold

On the galaxy

Painting a picture of love

For it was messy

Things didn’t feel right

Didn’t go quite the way they were supposed to

And now you’re gone

But sometimes

Every once in a while

I see a shooting star

And imagine it is you

If I love you any more

If I love you any more

I think my heart would burst

And if it did

It would shatter

Into a million stars

Each one proclaiming my love for you
